Description
Charlie is sitting on the back of an ambulance with an icepack on his head and a medic beside him. Don and David arrive and run toward them.
Don: "Hey, you alright?!"
Charlie: "I'm alright, it's alright."
Don: "Well, you're going to see a doctor." *glances at medic* I mean, I don't care what he says."
Charlie: "Believe me, I'm not gonna refuse any medical attention." *gestures to his head* "This actually kind of smarts."
Don: "Let me see..."
David: "Hey, Charlie, you have any idea who might have tried to do this?"
Charlie: "I couldn't see them that well."
David: "Just think about it for a second. Anybody weird hanging around campus? Maybe at any of your book signings?"
Don: "Did you flunk any of your students or get in any fights with any of them, anything like that?"
Charlie: "No, my students aren't trying to kill me, although sometimes it seems like they are." *pauses* "That wasn't the first time I saw that truck. I think he followed me last night."
Don: "What are you talking about? Why didn't you tell me?"
Charlie: "Because you were already so pissed off about my interview –"
Don: "Charlie...!"
Charlie: "— so I just didn't tell you."
Don: "Oh, come on, Charlie. C'mon, you can come to me – come to me with anything!"
~NUMB3RS, Season 4 Episode 11 "Breaking Point"
This was one of my favorite scenes, when Don realizes just how horrified he would be if Charlie ever stopped trusting him. That last line was a critical turning point in their relationship.
